| What computer
equipment and software do I need in order to use CARCare 2000? |
|
We recommend a
133MHz Pentium or
better. You'll need 16 Mbytes or more of memory and 20 Mb of free disk space
for installation. Your computer should be capable of 65,536 or more colors. You'll also need a 32-bit operating system such as Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0,
or Windows 2000. And lastly, you'll need a printer attached to your computer. |
| I am
evaluating CARCare. If my trial copy expires, will the data that I've entered
during the evaluation period still be valid? |
|
Sure. All data
you've entered will remain in your database. |
| I am upgrading
CARCare 2000 from an earlier version. Can I keep my prior information? |
|
You betcha. All previous information is automatically
retained. |
| Does
CARCare support the Metric system?
|
|
Yes. You may select between US/English or Metric
(SI)
measures. |
| Can I
track fuel
economy with CARCare? |
|
Yes. You simply enter a fuel purchase record each time your
refuel your car. The program will produce reports detailing your fuel economy,
and will display a graph of your fuel economy on-screen. |
| Can I store
information for more than one vehicle?
|
|
You sure can, and we don't charge extra for this feature! If you are a car
enthusiast or collector with multiple autos, you'll really like this capability. All
vehicles are stored based on the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). All vehicles
are listed right on your screen. Simply click on a vehicle to access its records. |
| Does CARCare track
parts that are replaced? |
|
Yes. Not only the description and part number, but the cost of replacement
parts too! You'll know when a part was last replaced, and your total maintenance
costs over the life of your cars. |
| Will CARCare
remind me when maintenance is due?
|
|
Yes. You simply define when maintenance is due for each vehicle you own.
Maintenance reminders may be based on mileage or date, or both! And you can schedule
maintenance as far in advance as you like. CARCare will remind you each time you start the
program. Or you can manually check your reminders at any time. It checks scheduled
maintenance for ALL of your vehicles at once, with just one mouse click! |
| I restore vintage
automobiles. Can CARCare help me track my restoration projects?
|
|
Yes. A "maintenance" entry is simply a record of work performed on a
car. You can enter any number of "parts" records on a maintenance record. This
arrangement is very flexible and can enable you to keep track all of your project
expenses. Plus, the images feature will allow you to store photographs of your restoration
project at each phase of completion. |
| How many
service records
can I store in my CARCare database?
|
|
As many as your disk can hold. There's no practical limit on the size of your
database. |
| Is the Images
feature limited to scanned documents only? |
|
No. Actually this handy feature can be used with any type of content.
However, you must have the appropriate software installed on your computer for each file
type. As an example, if you want to link DOC type files to a maintenance record,
youll need a word processor installed on your computer capable of displaying the
document. CARCare simply launches these attachments using various software already
installed on your computer. |
| I cannot save any
information using CARCare. Whats wrong? |
|
You are probably using an expired trial copy. This can also occur
if you simply copy the program to a different computer. If you do this, the program will
request your "Registration Key". This is the number that came with your
purchase. If you purchased a CD-ROM, it's on the back of your CD jewel case. Simply
re-enter the Registration Key when it is requested. |
| I have entered my
Registration Key, but I still cannot save information using CARCare. The green
"OK" checkmark on a form does not become enabled. What now? |
|
Make sure you have entered valid information to each field on a
form. In
other words, until you enter an odometer reading on a Maintenance record, the "OK"
checkmark will remain disabled. Entering complete information will enable CARCare to
provide you with useful, accurate historic data. |
| I want
to copy my data to a ZIP disk or CD-RW so that I have a backup in case of a disk failure.
Which files contain my data? |
|
You need to copy
the
following two files from your BACKUP folder:
The "yyyymmdd-hhmmss"
represents a time-stamp, so you'll know which backup copies are the most
recent. Simply copy the two most recent files to your ZIP drive or CD-RW. If
you ever need to use a backup, simply remove the timestamps, and copy these
files into your CARCare 2000 folder.
